A BEXLEYHEATH charity worker is preparing to run five marathons in five days.
Mark Attree, of Swanton Road, is aiming to run 130 miles from Birmingham to Bexleyheath in aid of Children in Need.
The 28-year-old, who works as a designer for the charity, is to embark on the “crazy challenge” on Monday, April 29.
He told News Shopper: “I wanted a challenge - I’ve done the London Marathon but I couldn’t get in this year so I decided to do my own thing.”
Mr Attree has had to contend with countless injuries, infections and blisters during his grueling training regime which involves running around 20 miles from his work in Hammersmith to Bexleyheath once a fortnight.
He said: “It’s been really, really tough. It’s not just training for 25 miles but for five times that amount so I’ve had to up the intensity.”
The charity worker is due to set off on his solo challenge from Pudsey Drive in Sutton Coldfield, just north of Birmingham, on Monday April 29.
He will then head to the Children in Need office in White City via Coventry and Milton Keynes to a hero’s welcome before one final push to Bexleyheath on Friday.
