THERE will be a touch of the Victorian about a church in Bromley when it takes a trip back in time for its 150th anniversary celebrations.

On April 27 and 28 the congregation of St Mary’s Church, College Road, will be back in the 1860s for the Victorian weekend.

A Victorian pastimes exhibition starts the festivities in the church hall with societies demonstrating crafts and hobbies from the era including quilting, lace making and photography.

Other highlights on the Saturday include a Victorian Tea and a music hall style performance.

Sunday morning church service will be taking place in period dress.

And for lunch there will be a hot dinner of brown stew and dumplings followed by spotted dick, taken from Victorian cook Mrs Beeton’s recipe book.
