MILLWALL's day out at Wembley was marred by fighting amongst a small pocket of fans.

On the pitch the Lions lost 2-0 to a Wigan Athletic team who were good value for their win but much of the post-match talk may centre around ugly scenes from the stands broadcast live on TV.

In the last 10 minutes with the game lost for the Championship side, fans began trading punches to the right of the stand behind the goal while being loudly booed by large sections of the crowd.

The fracas grew worse and there were no police and stewards visible for around five minutes until some officers could be seen trying to halt the disturbance.

But they had punches, flags and abuse hurled at them and were thrown back as they tried to emerge from one of the entrances, while one man involved could be seen with blood dripping from a head wound.

Gemma Walsh ‏wrote on Twitter: "I know its the minority but those millwall fans are a disgrace! No doubt the right team going through to the final."

Robin Perrin added: "Not defending Millwall fans at all, but there's obviously people in that end who aren't Millwall fans that could've caused it."

Leanne Barnes tweeted: "Have we gone back in time to the 80's? #MargaretThatcher all over the news, #Millwall fighting at football & protests in the streets!"
