A MURDER investigation has been launched after a 30-year-old man died at a pizza takeaway restaurant in Dartford last night.

Detectives were called to the House on the Hill takeaway in East Hill at 11.30pm to reports of a man unconscious.

The man, who has been named locally as Ben Mahoney and was from the Dartford area, later died at the scene.

Two men were arrested at the takeaway and remain in custody this morning where they are being questioned by police officers.

Shocked Dartford homeowners have taken to Twitter this morning, as the news broke of the second murder in the town in less than months.

On February 12, father-of-three Kevin McKinley, 32, was gunned down at around 8pm in Fulwich Road.

A young couple – Michaela Sargeant, 24 and Lewis Wickenden, 25, who lived together in Overy Street were later charged in connection with Mr McKinley's death.

This morning, Melissa Burt took to Twitter to write: “Another murder in dartford lastnight awful!!!” (sic).

Meanwhile Emma Duke wrote on the social-networking site: “Two murders in two months in Dartford. Becoming an increasingly horrible place to live! Would tougher sentences deter this?”

Some Twitter users even called for a police station to open in Dartford town centre.

Matt Johnson wrote: “2 murders in a couple of months in Dartford I think it's time we had a police station back, don't you?” (sic).
