A DEPTFORD Green teacher who was banned from the profession after condemning the lifestyle of gay and lesbian people has had his appeal rejected.

Robert Haye was banned from teaching for two years last summer after comments he made to pupils, claiming homosexuality was a sin and likening Sunday prayers to devil worship.

A teaching assistant had complained about the comments, leading to a disciplinary hearing.

Mr Haye went to the High Court this week to appeal his ban, claiming it had ended his career.

But Judge Eleanor King dismissed the appeal, pointing out the school had a clear policy on attitudes to gay and lesbian lifestyles.
