A DOWNHAM man jailed following the death of Baby P has been sent back to prison for breaching his parole conditions.
Jason Owen, 41, of Wittersham Road, was jailed at the Old Bailey for six years in 2009 for causing or allowing the death of 17-month-old Peter Connelly in 2007.
Owen was released on parole on August 5 2011, halfway through his six-year jail term, with the 289 days he spent in custody before sentencing being taken into account.
The Ministry of Justice has not yet released the circumstances surrounding Owen’s recall to prison.
A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: "Offenders released on licence are subject to a strict set of conditions and controls.
"If they fail to comply with their licence conditions, they are liable to be returned to custody."
In May 2009, an Old Bailey judge gave Owen an indeterminate sentence of imprisonment for public protection with a minimum term of three years for his part in the toddler's death.
This meant he could apply for parole after three years but would only be released once the Parole Board was satisfied he no longer posed a risk to the public.
But Owen challenged his sentence at the Court of Appeal and in October 2009 was ordered to serve a fixed six-year jail term instead.
Owen’s brother Steven Barker and Peter’s mother Tracey Connelly were also jailed.
