A BROKEN down skip lorry forced the southbound Blackwall Tunnel to be completely closed this morning.
Motorists travelling into North Greenwich during the rush hour faced delays of up to an hour following the closure, which was put in place at around 7.30am.
Drivers took to Twitter to vent their frustration, with some reporting they were stuck in the tunnel and had been told to switch their engines off.
It is believed that at around 8am a recovery vehicle attended the scene and the broken down lorry is being ‘dragged’ out of the tunnel.
The tunnel re-opened at around 8.15am.
Traffic was also very heavy heading northbound into the Blackwall Tunnel this morning, with delays as far as Westcombe Park station at 8am.
