The latest half-term didn’t pass Thamesmead-by, with Trust Thamesmead’s The Link Thamesmead and Sporting Club Thamesmead offering an array of activities.

Sessions included Arts and Crafts, Street Dance, Indoor Climbing and Recording Sessions in The Link Thamesmead’s Recording Studio, which is available for hire.

Ten year old JLS fan, Shannon Leslie was one of many young people who enjoyed their recording session: “I sung Abba’s Thank You for the Music, as it was a song I sung in a show. I can’t wait to get the CD in my hand and play it to my mum.

“I would love to be a singer when I am older. You have to be brave to go up on stage and I am brave.”

A sentiment backed-up by nine year old Jessie J fan, Jessica Barrows: “I love singing and would love to be a singer or an actress when I grow up.”

Nine year old wrestling fan, Kurtis Daines who took part in indoor climbing said: “I really enjoyed climbing to the top of the wall. I can’t wait to do it all again on Thursday!”

The two-week activity programme finishes with a Talent Show managed by Thamesmead Youth Voice’s Access Group, a group of 11-19 year olds who aim to become fully-fledged members of TYV. Taking place at The Link Thamesmead tomorrow (Friday) night from 6:30pm, tickets are £1.50 adults (16+) and just £1 for children (15 and under) and OAPs.
