A new survey suggests Bromley is one of the happiest places in the country. Reporter HANNAH BLAKE asks what makes your borough so special.

ALTHOUGH not quite as happy as Harrogate, Bromley made the top 10 happiest places in Britain according to a recent poll.

Researchers from property firm, Rightmove, asked homeowners to rank 12 factors about their hometown, covering feelings towards their home and also the community in which they live.

WHAT YOU THINK

Catherine Dunning, 20, of The Avenue, said: “There’s a lot for people to do, lots of restaurants, shops, pubs and bars.

“People are always about so it’s never quiet.”

Jean Gibson, 79, of Oaklands Road, said: “It makes me happy because there’s a warm feel to the area.

“There are a variety of shops, even though they’re closing every week.”

Ashley Martin, 47, of Milk Street, said: “It’s a nice place to live.

“It’s very clean, the parks are always well maintained by the council cleaning them up and making them nice.”

Hannah Harrison, 36, of Beaumont Road, Petts Wood, pictured with Phoebe, four, said: “It’s a lovely place to live.

“It’s good for families because there are lots of good schools and green areas.

“The social life is also good.”

Peter Novak, 36, of Chinbrook Road, said: “I’m very happy here.

“It’s a fantastic place, it’s not like Lewisham or Catford where people are getting stabbed every day.

“It’s quieter and safer and I work here.”
