Bromley's Dominique Wells is one of 10 models in the frame to become this year's model for lingerie company Curvy Kate model. As the competition heats up, our very own Star in a Bra tells PATRICK GRAFTON-GREEN that modelling should not be a skinny girl's game.

SHE could be just weeks away from winning a year-long modelling contract with a lingerie firm catering for the more curvy lady.

If successful, Dominique plans to send out a message, loud and clear, that you don't need to be size zero to succeed.

The 24-year-old, of Downe Road, near Downe, says she is proud to be representing women of a fuller figure, saying: "I think people should be proud of their bodies whatever their size.

"If I can win I can hopefully inspire women like me to enter next year's competition.

"Modelling should be open to women of all sizes - there should be a range of models.

"As a size 16, I would love to be able to represent women."

Star in a Bra is open to all women above the age of 18 - as long as they are a D cup or above - making it a modelling contest with a difference.

Last year Ms Wells, who teaches Zumba and Chasamba classes, finished in the top 30 of the competition, which is judged by a panel from Curvy Kate, Debenhams and Body Gossip.

She said: "I was really surprised that I did so well last year, so I thought I'd try again this year - and now I'm in the top 10.

"I would obviously love to win but I'm really happy and proud to have got this far."

Dominique does as much part-time modelling as she can and has even appeared on shopping channels and, most recently, as part of a 'How to dress to your shape' segment on ITV's Alan Titchmarsh show.

She says the year-long contract would be a huge deal for her.

She added: "It is something I would love to be able to do, but we'll have to see how it goes."
