CUTE and cuddly animals did their bit to raise a record-breaking £7,000 for a Northfleet children's charity.

The annual Springtime at the Farm event at Harvel House Farm near Culverstone Green saw newborn lambs and bunnies with the 'cute factor' pull in the crowds.

Hundreds of families enjoyed having their photos taken with the animals, which travelled from Meopham with the Young Farmers Club to join in the fun, to raise money for chYps.

Visitors also enjoyed a free BBQ with all the meat being provided by the farm.

Other popular attractions on the day were cake decorating and horse and cart rides, which raised more than £600.

Events organiser Emma Middleton said: "The event went exceptionally well and we are so pleased to have raised £7,000.

"The sun was shining and so many people turned out to support their local hospice.

"This money will help EllenorLions and chYps to care for seriously ill children and adults in the local community.

"We are very grateful to Stephen and Joanne Jones from Harvel House Farm for allowing us to use their wonderful farm and for being so supportive and we can’t wait until next year’s event."
