A GREENWICH councillor has "taken the plunge" into the digital age by launching his own website.

Cabinet member for health, adults and older people Cllr John Fahy says the site will act as a "tool" to engage with community issues.

It comes shortly after Leader of Greenwich Council Cllr Chris Roberts – who Cllr Fahy challenged in a leadership bid last year - announced he was to step down at the next local election.

Blog posts include volunteering work in Maryon Wilson Park, support for the Run to the Beat proposed new route, and council information such as sheltered housing changes.

The welcome post says: "After much soul searching I have decided to take the plunge."

A later comment reads: "At the outset, this is not about me but a tool to engage more actively with those that elected me to office.

"It is important for me that I am held to account, report on issues of concern and try to keep people informed as far as possible."

The ward councillor for Woolwich Riverside joins other Greenwich councillors Cllr Matthew Pennycook and Cllr Mary Mills who also have their own websites and blogs.
