POLICE are warning against letting cold callers in to your home after an elderly man in West Wickham was fleeced by a woman who claimed to want the number of a painter.
The con artist knocked on the victim’s door in Silver Lane at about 10pm last night asking for the phone number of the man who was decorating the property.
When she asked whether she could come inside while he found the number because it was cold, they both went into the kitchen.
While they were in the kitchen the woman’s accomplice came into the house and went through the drawers in the dining room, the bedroom and the front room.
The pair got away with around £150 cash and the victim’s wallet containing his cards.
The woman is described as white, being aged around 24, well-built and around 5ft 5in tall.
She had dark brown hair which was styled in a bob and was wearing a white patterned blouse and dark trousers.
And she spoke with a London or Kent accent.
Her accomplice is white, in his mid-20s, medium build with short fair hair which is receding.
He was wearing a blue jacket and jeans.
Anyone who recognises the description of the two suspects is asked to call Bromley Police CID on 101.
A Bromley Police spokesman said: “For any cold callers, if in doubt do not let them in to your property.”
