KNOWN for its ‘Should have gone to Specsavers’ slogan, an opticians has become the place to go for over-50s who have hearing problems.

The South London Healthcare NHS Trust is no longer providing routine audiology services to people aged 50 and over with Specsavers one of the providers doing it instead in their hearing centres.

A full list of providers has been produced by the Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and is available from doctor surgeries.

The service is free and to access it you will need to be referred by your GP.

CCG director Meredith Collins said: “Patients will now be able access adult hearing services which aim to deliver the same quality and a choice of 13 locations within and near the borough of Bromley.”

The trust will continue to provide an audiology service for people less than 50 years old and will provide a diagnostic service for patients referred to the ear, nose and throat service by their GP.
