GOODRIDGE Cliff We are sad to announce that Clifton (Cliff) Goodridge, died on 2nd September at Darent Valley Hospital, at the age of 93. He was born in Barbados and grew up on the West Coast in St. James. As a young man, he was a keen bodybuilder winning local competitions, but before long moved to his beloved England, arriving in 1955 on the Oranjestad, aged 25. Cliff met Jamaican-born Vida in England and they married in 1966. Their daughter was born in 1972. He became a Registered Mental Nurse and worked for the NHS for many years, initially in South East London and latterly in and around the Dartford borough. Later, he became a ward manager working for several healthcare agencies before finally retiring in his late 60s. Cliff's passion was cars. He tinkered around with vehicles in his garage at Mabledon, Dartford, helping friends with repairs or patching up his family car. Never far from his jump leads, his family will remember him for providing roadside assistance to a number of people before the prevalence of breakdown services. When not fixing cars, he could be found at the Working Man's Club in Dartford. Cliff considered many fellow members his pals and held such a fondness for the place that it was almost like a second home to him. In 2020, he became a widower when Vida passed away. By 2023, Cliff had lived in Dartford for 48 years. He shall be sorely missed by his family and friends. A funeral for Cliff will take place at Spital Street Methodist Church, 43 Spital Street, Dartford, on: Friday 6th October at 14:00.
