I was privileged to race against Dan way back in 1971 in the 'Nos Galan 40 miles Track Race' in Cardiff. Although Dan wasn't a household name for me he was one of the world's most impressive athletes, and in terms of world sport an 'iron man.' Why? Dan regularly raced in ultra long distance running races, and in his case he favoured many races over 48 hours. Yet he also competed in five and seven day events, in one race clocking over 405 km! Perhaps his greatest achievement was winning the USA's Sri Chimnoy 5 day race in 1986. Dan, I salute you. I want your friends and family to know how athletically great you were, as few will see your athletics history on DUVUltraStats.
