CANADIAN comedian Stewart Francis has won an award for the funniest joke at the Edinburgh Fringe with a gag about David and Victoria Beckham – but do you know an even more amusing gag?
The deadpan comic’s winning quip was: "You know who really gives kids a bad name? Posh and Becks" – in reference to the showbiz couple naming their children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper Seven.
Francis won a public vote in the competition organised by TV channel Dave which enlisted the help of 10 comedy critics to draw up a shortlist of jokes.
Another gag of Francis’ to make the top 10 was: "I saw a documentary on how ships are kept together. Riveting!"
Previous winner of the competition Tim Vine was runner-up with: "Last night me and my girlfriend watched three DVDs back to back. Luckily I was the one facing the telly."
Our challenge to you is to bring some mirth to the News Shopper readership and come up with your funniest joke. None of the top jokes in the Dave contest were offensive, racist or rude so keep yours clean – and keep it short.
