ECO-DESIGNER and TV personality Oliver Heath can’t wait to give out tips to visitors at the Great British Home Show when it comes to Glow at Bluewater this bank-holiday weekend.

The former Changing Rooms designer and author of three architecture books told News Shopper: “While I really enjoy giving talks and seminars, I’m really looking forward to helping visitors out with their home dilemmas during my personalised home consultations.

“It’s a great way to really focus attention on a specific problem and help that home owner transform their space.

“It’s enormously satisfying seeing people’s houses becoming their homes.

And the architect - who is also a spokesman for the Energy Savings Trust, Waste Recycling Action Programme and Friends of the Earth - is keen to let people know the differences they can make by going green.

He said: “I’d like to help people see their home in a new way.

“We are all aware that most of our homes waste energy and resources, but until the bill drops through the front door letter box we don’t realise what we’re doing or the simple things that we can all do to make a difference– making our homes, warmer, healthier and saving ourselves a bundle to boot, what’s not to like?”

Throughout the show – which runs from Thursday (May 31) to Monday (June 4) – Oliver will be giving a series of talks on making your home a better, greener place to live, looking at the top 10 upcoming home trends (plants are creeping back in) in addition to his personal design consultations.

As well as Oliver, there’ll be top retailers showing new products and providing inspiration, food, gardens, a how-to theatre and experts such as Alys Fowler and winner of the first Big Brother, DIY-supremo Craig Phillips.

Oliver said: “If you’re thinking about renovating, revamping, gardening or greening your home there’s going to be so much for you to do and see.”

And Oliver said to be on the lookout for Mr Phillips’ “cheeky sense of humour”.

He said: “I’ve met him a few times over the years and he’s a right laugh. We’re both going to be there at the opening day on Thursday so I’m looking forward to catching up.”
