FAITH has done a lot; from touring with the Four Tops, taking the lead role in Sunset Boulevard to carving out an impressive impressionist career.

It is hard to know where to start.

So I ask her whether she sees herself as an actress, singer, impressionist or comedienne and inevitably the talk turns to bosom size.

“I am all rounder, literally an all rounder with my boobies.”

She confesses to a love of “stage work” adding: “I love to be with an audience.”

But clearly her proudest moment was playing silent actress Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard which won her three awards.

She says I must be too young to remember that era, I sound 24/25 (I am 30) before telling me about auditioning (and getting) the part.

“I watched the silent movie with my mother years ago when I was a kid. I thought it was amazing.

“I can say anything I want with my eyes (goes into impression).”

Her manager advised her to dress up as Norma for the recall audition.

“She used to have this big turban and a long floaty dress and I did the eyes and everything, really like a mad woman. I looked like an absolute dork.”

But her performance left a big impression on Andrew Lloyd Webber.

“I’d finished it and he came over and his eyes were all red. He had been crying. He put his arms around me and he said: `Well, that was magnificent. The job is yours.’

“When I had finished speaking to Andrew, the casting director said: ‘My God Faith, I’m telling you the truth I’ve been with him 27 years and I’ve never ever seen him offer a job ever, ever to anybody there and then.’

“I was so excited. I was walking on cloud nine.

“I could never ever, ever get anything as good as that again ever.”

Her next project sees her taking part in the Best of British Variety Tour which includes acts such as Tom O’Connor, Cannon and Ball and Bucks Fizz.

She promises old favourites such as Margaret Thatcher (Oh good evening, please, please don’t get up, I’d much prefer to talk down to you) and new impressions such as Amy Winehouse and Duffy.

But don’t be surprised if some of these are not in the final cut as Faith’s biggest worry is trimming her material down to the 20 minutes everyone has been allocated.

“I’m swopping and changing and putting things in. I’ve got it down to 35 minutes.”

But the entertainer, who was once known as the female Tom Jones, does promises some singing.

“A lot of people don’t know that I am a singer first and foremost.”

What about retirement, will she ever give up?

“Oh God yes there’s got to be a time. I haven’t put weight on or anything or maybe a little bit on the boobs.

“When everything starts going and I feel tired I’ll give it up.

“When I get tired I will hang my dresses up, by the boobies.”
