PREVIOUSLY hidden weird and wonderful objects will be put on display by ten museums across the country.
The Horniman Museum and Gardens in Forest Hill is taking part in the First Time Out programme from June 6 to July 31 alongside the likes of the Royal Botanic Gardens, the National History Museum and the National History Museum.
From its archives, the Horniman will display the ceremonial mask of Dzunukwa, or Wild Woman of the Woods, which came from north west Canada around 1900.
In a twist on the theme, the museums will swap their artefacts on July 4 and the Horniman will receive the Fool’s Bauble from the Royal Shakespeare Company’s 2007 production of King Lear, in which Sir Ian McKellan played Lear and Sylvester McCoy was the fool.
