THREE dance projects have been given commissions supported by Greenwich Dance and Trinity Laban.

The first three Compass Commissions were announced yesterday (Wednesday, May 15) and will be granted a performance, rehearsal space, between £5,000 and £7,000 and other support from the two companies.

Belgian Trinity Laban Dance Theatre alumnus Tara D’Arquian, circus and street theatre company Mimbre and a collaboration between dancer Nick Bryson and choreographer Robin Dingemans were chosen.

The selection panel – including Interim Artistic Director at Greenwich Dance, Kat Bridge, and Head of Laban Theatre Programme at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Deptford, Brian Brady – received 135 entries.

Kat said: “These clever and often dramatic pieces will intrigue and entertain audiences and we are confident they will become part of the lexicon of contemporary dance.”

Performances will take place between Autumn 2013 and Summer 2014.
