TWO lucky teens got to meet their oddball TV heroes as Bafta-winning show Misfits returned to film in Thamesmead.
Ellen Vanden-Bossche and Aaron Moore won a competition run by Gallions housing association giving them and a friend exclusive behind the scenes access to the crew and stars during filming of the third series.
The E4 programme, about a group of young offenders on community service who develop supernatural powers, is a cult hit, and won the Best Drama Bafta last year.
Aaron, 16, of Livesey Close, said: “I rang my mate Cameron straight away and told him. We’re both massive fans of the show and so this was like a dream come true.”
In addition to watching how the scenes were filmed, locations manager Mark Gladwin provided a guided tour around the set.
He also and took time out to explain the entire process behind creating a hit television show; from the original idea being dreamt up, through to scripting and final production.
The four also got to meet Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Joseph Gilgun - better known to fans as Curtis and Rudy.
Ellen, 17, of Portmeadow Walk, said: “We sat on the roof and watched the cast film one of their scenes.
“Until that moment I hadn’t realised how much effort went into getting one scene right.”
The comedy-drama, which started in November 2009, is set in the fictional London borough of Wertham and regularly films in the area.
Many scenes take place around Southmere Lake, while Bexley College was once used as a setting.
The third series is scheduled to be shown this autumn.
