With warmer weather set to return, visiting a lido for an outdoor swim is the perfect summer activity – and south London has two that have been named the best in the UK.

The Telegraph recently published a list of the top 20 lidos and outdoor pools to visit around the UK, with four located in London.

Two of the four on the list were south of the river, and with hopes for warmer weather, what better way to spend a warm day than outdoors by the pool?

Here are the south London lidos that featured in the list:

Brockwell Lido

Where? Brockwell Park, Dulwich Road, Brixton, SE24 0PA

How much? £8 for adults, £5 for over 65s, children 5+ and concessions.

First on the list is Brockwell Lido in Brixton, which has been part of the community since it first opened in 1937.

Here you’ll find a range of fitness facilities including a 50m outdoor swimming pool and on-site gym, along with a café if you fancy a snack.

The pool is unheated and open all year round for anyone who is daring enough to swim in the chillier months.

Tooting Bec Lido

Where? Tooting Bec Road, Tooting, SW16 1RU.

How much? £9.40 for adults (16+), £5.20 for children, £24.30 for a family pass.

Known as the UK’s ‘largest fresh water swimming pool’, measuring a whopping 91.4 metres in length, Tooting Bec in south London is a great location for anyone looking to do some serious swimming.

The lido recently opened following a £4 million refurbishment and features an on-site shop and parking, and is accessible for wheelchair users with ramps and pool hoists.
