A picturesque Kent village just 30 minutes from south east London has bedecked its streets with floral displays for an annual competition.
Eynsford Village, located in Sevenoaks, is a quaint historic village with easy travel links to London by train and car.
The village was famously used as a filming location for the popular ITV series ‘The Larkins“, in which the Village Hall, Castle Hotel and The Ford were featured.
If you visit the village this weekend, you’ll find the village decorated with colourful flower displays and planting arrangements to mark its annual ‘Eynsford in Bloom’ competition.
Organised by South and South East in Bloom, who hold annual horticulture competitions for counties across the south and south east, Eynsford will be one of many villages, parishes and towns this year taking part.
The competition is focused on gardening, planting and floral displays, along with an emphasis on communities and local people caring for their local environments and gardens.
The village currently features a number of floral displays, ranging from baskets in gardens to newly created flower beds around the village, including the car park, local businesses and Saint Martin's Church.
Judging for the village is set to happen on Monday, with the village scored on a regional level, while local establishments in the running to win other awards will also be judged on the day
Last year Eynsford won the Gold Award for the ‘Large Village’ category, marking its 9th year winning the award.
If you visit, Eynsford also has a number of other local attractions to explore, including Lullingstone Roman Villa and Lullingstone Castle if you fancy learning about the local history.
Bird lovers can also visit the nearby attraction of Eagle Heights, which is home to a huge variety of birds of prey, along with other animals including meerkats and farm animals.
You’ll also find plenty of Green Chain walks giving views of the Darent Valley and the Kent countryside.
