I went to a dog-friendly outdoor cinema with a bar and pizza place next door and it was the perfect summer's evening.

Peckham’s Rooftop Film Club is located on top of Peckham’s Bussey Building just off of Rye Lane, just a short walk from Peckham Rye Station.

Over the summer, Rooftop Film Club will be putting on a host of films to watch outdoors, surrounded by views of the city.

The outdoor cinema is also next door to the Bussey Rooftop Bar which offers a selection of cocktails, spirits, and drinks, as well as Share A Slice which offers delicious pizzas starting from £9.50.

Peckham’s Rooftop Film Club is also dog-friendly if you want to bring your four-legged friend to watch a film.

The cinema offers a range of showings from new releases like Barbie and Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny to old classics Dirty Dancing and Jurassic Park.

On the note of weather, some may be concerned about booking tickets after all the rain we’ve been having.

The Rooftop Cinema Club operates “come rain or shine” according to their website, although they do offer an exchange option for guests.

The weather policy advertised on their website offers guests the chance to exchange their tickets for a different day for free if you’d prefer to skip the wet weather.

We arrived and started off with pizza and drinks in the Bussey Rooftop Bar, where they have a really good selection of cocktails, both classic and house specials.

The bar has an outdoor tropical theme which is reflected on their cocktails list, where you can find options like a Passionfruit Mojito or a Tequila Sunrise.

I ordered a Strawberry Cosmo, which was very sweet and delicious, along with a pizza from Share A Slice.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with the pizzas, but they tasted really good and had a good thin base and were devoured very quickly.

The venue recently got a new LED screen which allows them to offer earlier showing times for families or anyone who doesn't fancy staying out late.

However, wanting a true evening outdoor cinema experience, we went for the 8:45pm showing, where you get to start your film just as the sun begins to set over the London skyline.

You are allowed to go in 30 minutes before the film starts and I would definitely recommend getting there earlier to take in the views of the beautiful sunset, it’s well worth it.

When you arrive, you’ll be given a comfy, waterproof blanket to keep you warm when it gets chilly and a set of wireless earphones that block out the sounds of the surrounding area.

You can buy drinks and snacks at the bar and the kiosk to take in with you, or you can get them ordered to your table throughout the film by scanning a unique QR code.

This was probably my favourite thing about doing this experience, as opposed to regular cinemas where you normally purchase drinks and snacks before heading into the film.

Having the option to have drinks and snacks brought to you really made the experience so much easier, as I didn’t have to worry about stumbling to my seat while trying to juggle a box of popcorn and a drink.

As the light faded and the fairy lights came on, I enjoyed sipping on a cocktail, eating popcorn and getting lost in the film.

It’s cinema like you’ve never done it before and, without wanting to sound rather cheesy, it felt rather idylic.

All in all, this must be something you have to try if you love going to the cinema and are looking for fun date nights, family fun activities or something to do with your friends after work.

It was one of my favourite things I’ve done over the summer and I’ll definitely be going back again.

You can book film tickets up until August 31, with tickets starting from £16.95.
