Neil Harris praised the performance of new loan-signing George Saville after Millwall’s 2-0 victory over Northampton Town in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last night.
Saville, 22, only completed a 28-day loan deal from Wolves yesterday but was immediately called up to Harris’ starting XI for the cup match at The Den.
The former Chelsea star put in an impressive display in central midfield, demonstrating composure on the ball as well as exciting home fans with some strong challenges.
“I thought he was excellent tonight,” Harris said.
“For a boy who hasn’t played a lot of football, who hasn’t trained for three days, I thought he was excellent.
“He gave us a little bit of aggression in the middle of the park but also composure.
“He came with some good recommendations from some good football people.

“I was really pleased, that’s the standard he’s set and now he’s got to keep to that standard and improve as his match-fitness improves.
Saville was recruited following the injuries midfield duo Jimmy Abdou and Ed Upson suffered in the defeat to Peterborough last week.
And while the pair, who are expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks, will be sorely missed, Harris said their absence provides an opportunity for other members of the squad to shine.
“They’re big losses but other people now get an opportunity,” the 38-year-old added.

“George has come in tonight and done really well – Lee Martin’s come back in the side and given something completely different.
“There’ll be some opportunities for the young lads, too.”
