Charlton all but secured a top-six finish after Scunthorpe beat Plymouth last night.
Goals from Hakeeb Adelakun and Ivan Toney moved the Iron up to fifth at the expense of Lee Bowyer’s men, who drop to sixth.
The result means seventh-placed Plymouth would need a seven-goal swing to eclipse the Addicks’ goal difference on the final day of the season.
Argyle and Charlton travel to Gillingham and Rochdale, respectively, on Saturday.
The Addicks will be aiming to make it four wins on the bounce to finish either fifth or sixth.
Plymouth are three points behind Charlton - and would need a miracle to better their goal difference.
