KEDDLES gym in Orpington returned home from an evening of Thai boxing, cage fighting and boxing at the City Pavilion in Romford with eight titles.
Top fighters from across the world travelled to Essex last weekend, but it was Keddles who had the most to cheer.
The tally of crowns won by the Orpington club on the night is one of the biggest ever sweep of titles won by a single team in British Thai boxing history.
Orpington’s Lewis Chambers, 10, won the WKA English Thai boxing 40kg title against 10-year-old Morgan Mountford from Altrincham.
Connor Rickman, 13, from Swanley, saw off Jake Josh from Shin Kick Woking to become the new WKA British Thai boxing 59kg champion.
Jonathan Haggerty, also 13, returned from a gruelling training camp in Thailand to see his hard work pay off by becoming the WKA British 40kg Thai boxing champion.
Chris Villaret won the ISKA southern area Thai boxing 72kg title with victory over Bethnal Green’s Yohia Abaziz.
Mike Neun is the new heavyweight ISKA southern area title holder after overcoming Chris Grytski from Minators.
Orpington’s Wayne Gonsalves won the ISKA British Thai boxing title against Aah Uddin from the KO gym Bethnal Green.
Alexis Rufus secured the ISKA European title against Caterino Valerio from Portugal, but the highlight for Keddles was the triumph of Bernise Alldis, who won the ISKA world crown against Italy’s Luisella Marcione.
However, Keddles’ Connor Alldis lost out to Jamie Whelan, 15, from Nemesis (Erith) in a fourth round TKO to be denied the chance of becoming the WKA 61.5kg British Thai champion.
