ALAN Pardew admits Charlton's inconsistent form at The Valley is a cause for concern.
The Addicks have lost three of their last four games in SE7 and suffered their worst result of the season to date on Tuesday when Sheffield United claimed a 3-0 victory at Floyd Road.
Burnley are next up on Saturday and the manager is urging his side to be more patient on home turf.
He said: "I do feel concerned about our home form because we should be doing better.
"One of the problems from looking at the three defeats is, because we are a relatively new team, we've panicked a little bit when we have fell behind and gone a little bit gung-ho in trying to change the situation.
"This is something we are going to address before Saturday's game. We have to be more patient at home and sometimes accept a draw.
"We keep racing to get an equaliser to give us time to get a winner and then we are conceding a second goal and are out of the game, so we must show a little bit more intelligence at home."
The manager remains confident on Charlton's chances and does not feel too much should be read into the Sheffield United loss.
He explained: "We were on a decent run and I don't think it is going to affect our confidence levels too much, but obviously we've got to be on guard of what happened last time when we lost three.
"Saturday is a very important game and we are under no illusions about it.
"I would have liked us to have played a bit more football and felt we got a bit frantic towards the end, but the system has worked absolutely terrifically and we can't get away from that.
"It suits the players we've got, who are in-form, so my gut feeling at the moment is we will stay the same."
Pardew added: "An example is Zheng Zhi, who I thought was perhaps just off the pace the other night, but has been absolutely terrific.
"I will be looking for a team who I think can cope in what will be a high-pressure situation.
"The fans will be demanding we win, so there will be a lot of tension on the pitch and we need to be able to relax and play."
Charlton will be without Grant Basey, who suffered a groin injury in Tuesday's defeat against the Blades.
Pardew also confirmed the club have been given no information on the recent arrest of Amdy Faye.
Faye is on loan at Glasgow Rangers until the end of the season.
