ALAN Pardew was this week planning to step up his search for a new centre-half and loan right-back ahead of the transfer deadline at midnight on Friday.

The Charlton boss said: "We've got to look to get a right-back in because we need somebody to offer us an attacking threat from a full-back position and we definitely need another centre-half."

Meanwhile, Amdy Faye could be on the brink of leaving the Addicks, according to the manager, despite being named on the substitutes bench in Saturday's 3-2 win against Sheffield Wednesday.

Pardew added: "There are clubs interested in him - and my view of Amdy is if his focus is somewhere else then we'll take that opportunity to replace him with somebody else."

CHARLTON are backing plans for a new community sporting complex and a state-of-the-art training ground in Kings Hill, Kent.

Addicks chief executive Peter Varney revealed talks with US developers Liberty Trust had begun 12 months ago, and two planning applications will shortly be submitted to Kent County Council.

SCOTT Wagstaff struck twice as Charlton's under-18s were only denied victory against Arsenal on Saturday by a late equaliser.

The striker twice fired the Addicks in front with goals either side of the interval, but the Gunners snatched a point late in the game.
