Lee Bowyer has a tactical dilemma on his hands for the Northampton game.
The Charlton caretaker boss opted for a 4-4-2 diamond formation in his first game in charge which resulted in a convincing win over promotion rivals Plymouth.
Northampton, who are battling relegation, have used two systems in as many games. It’s left Bowyer undecided on his tactical approach.
He told News Shopper: “It’s difficult. There’s a couple of things I’m thinking about.
“Northampton have played two formations recently. They've played a 3-5-2 and a 4-4-1-1 for the last two games so I’m looking at personnel with the [Rotherham] game on Monday.

“I’m trying to figure out what’s the best formation to start with against Northampton and I’ll have to wait until tomorrow [to decide].
“I’m still going to keep watching games on them. But whatever happens and whatever team I put out, the lads will know what their jobs are and they’ll be ready.”
Josh Magennis and Ezri Konsa, who were regular starters under ex-Charlton boss Karl Robinson, will be in contention for the Northampton trip after returning from international duty.
When asked if he also has a selection dilemma, Bowyer added: “Yeah because if I play a straight 4-4-2 then I could bring other players in who will suit that better.
“I’m not going to give too much away but that’s what I’m contemplating at the moment, whether to play with wingers or stick with the formation we played so well with against Plymouth.
“But that’s something I’ll think about in the next 24 hours.”
