Michal Zyro believes new caretaker boss Lee Bowyer has changed Charlton’s mentality.
Bowyer, who replaced former Valley boss Karl Robinson on Thursday, won his first game in charge with a 2-0 victory over promotion rivals Plymouth.
News Shopper understands some Addicks players were unhappy with Robinson’s demeanour in the latter stages of his reign.
And Zyro, who scored his second goal for the club on Saturday, praised Bowyer’s instant impact.
He told News Shopper: “We changed our tactics [under Bowyer] for the Plymouth game - we went to a 4-4-2 formation.
“Our preparation about our opponent was the same but the day before the game we worked on our shape, how we have to play and that’s it.
“We changed our mentality a little bit and I felt we were fighting all the time against Plymouth.
“Every player gave 100 per cent and finally we scored two goals. We need to keep [more] clean sheets and we’ll be all good.

“Sometimes you need to change the formation. We were 2-0 up and changed to 4-5-1.
“It depends on the opponent and if the players are performing. It’s the gaffer’s decision and it worked.”
Zyro headed in Joe Aribo’s cross to double Charlton’s advantage in the 17th minute. The 25-year-old helped move the Addicks to within two points of the play-offs.
He celebrated by putting the ball under his shirt, which suggested a baby is on the way.
Zyro has struggled for first-team minutes since joining on loan from Wolves in January, but impressed with new strike partner Nicky Ajose against Plymouth.
The Poland forward added: “Our baby is due in the middle of June.
“It’s the first time I’ve done that celebration. I wanted to do it in a home game because my wife is always in the stands watching. It was really nice to have the chance to do it.
“Nicky and I started together for the first time. Mentally, we are hungry about playing and enjoying football.
“Every player wants to play - I signed on loan to play games. I didn't expect to play for 90 minutes from the first game because I didn't play for a long time before [due to a serious knee injury].
“So I just expected a chance for 20 or 30 minutes. Now it’s good. It’s my second Charlton goal and I just need to keep going and keep my health and be ready for Northampton on Friday.”
