Johnnie Jackson missed Charlton’s 2-0 win over Plymouth with an achilles injury.
The club captain, who is now assisting caretaker boss Lee Bowyer, was in the dugout but not in the matchday squad.
Bowyer believes the 35-year-old will be doing more coaching than playing for the rest of the season.
He told News Shopper: “Jacko wasn’t on the bench today because he’s injured. He's got a bad achilles, it’s just a bit sore.

“It was nice to see young Taylor [Maloney] come on [for his league debut], he’s a very good player by the way.
“Jacko will do more coaching now because he’s the assistant. He’ll need to do more on that side.”
