Karl Robinson slammed his offensive players after Charlton lost 3-2 to Oxford United on Saturday.

Josh Magennis’ 78th-minute strike looked to have given the Addicks the three points before late goals from Todd Kane and Ryan Ledson completed a shocking turnaround.

There were chances for Charlton to extend their lead at 2-1, however, Tariqe Fosu and Sullay Kaikai were wasteful in the box.

Robinson said: “[We were undone] by our offensive players. We lost our discipline with five minutes to go. It was quite clear what the game plan was and it wasn't carried out.

“We put somebody on to be more defensive and we asked our wingers to be more disciplined. We let a player run for their second goal, we worked on that yesterday. We spoke about it at great length and somebody chose not to do it.

“Those are the facts of the game. When we were leading, we got a little bit too confident and we became individuals, offensively today, which I’ve not seen before.

“It was ‘I want to score’ not ‘we want to score’. It’s about the club, and too many people thought it was about them.”

Despite Magennis ending his 14-game goal drought and Ahmed Kashi netting for the first time this season, Robinson saw no positives from the defeat.

He added: “We lost. We lost our shape, discipline and protection to our full-backs. That was the message to the players coming on, protect your full-backs.

“Allow them to come on to you and we’ll hit them on the break. When we did hit them on the break at 2-1, we became selfish. It’s clear today.

“They didn't beat us, we beat ourselves with our indiscipline.”
