Charlton thumped Ipswich 6-1 at the Valley in their final pre-season game.
Goals from Patrick Bauer, Tariqe Fosu, Josh Magennis and Ricky Holmes made it five wins from six friendlies.
Subsequently, Charlton have momentum going into their League One opener with Bristol Rovers next Saturday.
Here are five things we learned…
Billy Clarke steps up
Karlan Ahearne-Grant, Fosu and Holmes’ performances in pre-season have stolen the spotlight from Clarke.
Charlton’s first summer signing was brought in for his creativity, and he didn’t show it until Saturday. The former Bradford man terrorised Ipswich’s back-line and grabbed two assists.

The impending signing of Ben Reeves would put Clarke’s starting place under threat. But he reminded Addicks fans and boss Karl Robinson how good he can be.
Ahmed Kashi is getting better game by game
As discussed before, Kashi and Jake Forster-Caskey will be Robinson’s pairing in his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.
The Algeria midfielder could walk into any Championship side, and he showed his class once more against the Tractor Boys.
Kashi controlled the tempo of the game and kept Ipswich’s attackers quiet. It looks like he has put his injury hell behind him, too.
Magennis proves a point
Robinson has said he wants to bring in another striker to compete with Magennis, Lee Novak and Tony Watt. The trio have never scored 20-plus goals in a season, and stats will prove that that is needed for clubs who win promotion.

But Magennis was clinical with two well-taken goals in Saturday’s rout.
And his performance could’ve told Robinson that he can step up and be his 20-goal-a-season striker in the 2017/18 campaign.
Signing Reeves would show real intent from the Charlton hierarchy
News Shopper revealed that Reeves’ agent would be at the Valley for their game with Ipswich. And his agent was accompanied by the Charlton target.
Despite Robinson playing down talk of any immediate deal for the ex-MK Dons midfielder, it does look increasingly likely that Reeves will be playing in a Charlton shirt this season.

He has been one of the standout players in League One in recent years - and bringing him to SE7 would make Charlton serious contenders for promotion.
Charlton look ready for the new season
“You can’t take too much from pre-season” is a cliche phrase in football, but a true one. Results in Ireland were undesirable, but since coming back to England, Charlton have been on fire.
And they have played impressive football in the process, something Robinson was renowned for during his time with MK Dons. It’s expansive and aggressive football.
The Liverpudlian did not have the players to play in his 4-2-3-1 formation last season, but he does now. And so far, it looks like this fluid style of football could lead the Addicks to the Championship.
