Charlton have rejected bids from two League One clubs for Harry Lennon, News Shopper understands.

Lennon, 22, featured just five times last season after suffering a serious groin injury.

Despite having strong options in defence, Valley boss Karl Robinson wants to see the defender in action before making a decision about any loan deal.

He would be competing with Ezri Konsa, Patrick Bauer, Jason Pearce and Naby Sarr for a starting berth.

It was hoped that Lennon would be fit for the start of pre-season, however, he is yet to return to full training.

And with just one year left on his Charlton contract, he has been subject to two unsuccessful bids from two unnamed League One clubs this summer.

Lennon impressed during a loan spell with Gillingham in League One two years ago, scoring two goals in six games.

But his loan was cut short after being called back by then-Charlton boss Karel Fraeye to help the Addicks stay in the Championship.

The campaign ended in relegation, but Lennon stamped his mark on the first-team by making 20 appearances.

Last month, Lennon told News Shopper that Robinson wanted to keep him.

He said: “The manager has been good - he talks to me regularly. He’s told me that I’m in his plans when I get back fit. It’s all been positive.”
