Charlton are set to miss out on the signing of Louis Thompson from Norwich City.
The Addicks hoped to bolster their options in midfield by taking the Wales U21 international on loan for the 2016/17 season.
The club made contact with Thompson’s representatives at the end of last month, but a switch to SE7 now looks unlikely to materialise.

News Shopper understands the 21-year-old has been given assurances that he is now part of Alex Neil’s plans at Carrow Road having had three separate loan spells at Swindon Town.
The central midfielder started his career at the Robins before signing a deal with Norwich in September 2014.
Meanwhile, Charlton signed Norwich goalkeeper Declan Rudd on a season-long loan deal on Tuesday afternoon.
