Millwall midfielder Shane Ferguson has revealed the extent of his work ethic, which led to him being chucked off the training ground for excessive workload.
Neil Harris has praised the Northern Ireland international, who is on loan from Newcastle, for his immense effort on and off the pitch since arriving in August.
But the 24-year-old said his willingness to stay behind for extra sessions landed him in trouble with a member of staff at the Lions’ training ground in Bromley.
“I have been working hard in training with my finishing,” Ferguson said. “I practice a lot of free-kicks and corners because you always want to better yourself and push yourself as much as you can.
“I got told off a couple of weeks ago because I was out there too long.
“Everyone was in, I was the only one outside. We had a game the next day and I was probably doing too much before a game so one of the staff said ‘come on we have to go in now, stop doing what you’re doing’.
"So I got chucked off!"

The Derry-born star failed to score for Millwall in his first 15 appearances for the club, but bagged a brace on Saturday with a goal either side of half-time against Colchester to a seal a 4-1 win.
And after breaking his goal drought Ferguson hopes to kick on and provide Neil Harris with more goals.
He said: “It was unbelievable, the atmosphere was great, I’m just glad to get my first goal because I was getting a bit of stick from the boys and the manager.
“Hopefully I can get a few more now.
“I was disappointed with a miss at Blackpool - that kept me up for a few nights because I should have scored.
“We had a game plan against Colchester, we know how good we are on the break and it paid off.

“I’m just enjoying my football and there’s not much of a better season than winning games.”
After an indifferent start to the season the Lions have enjoyed a superb run, winning seven of their last nine games in all competitions.
Ferguson admits the squad is feeling very confident ahead of a hectic period of league and cup football.
“That’s credit to the lads, everyone’s been unbelievable this season after the slow start,” the former Birmingham loanee added.
“The manager has worked with us on our team shape and we have become a tough team to break down.
“You can see the confidence in the whole squad, not just the lads who are playing but also the young lads – hopefully we can keep it going.”
