Beckenham’s Alex Blake and Bexley’s Adam Riley were among the Kent players to receive awards at the Spitfires’ end of season bash last night.
Blake picked up the Alan Ealham Cup after the club’s coaches voted the Beckenham batsman as their fielder of the year.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a productive season in one-day cricket, scoring 304 runs in the NatWest T20 Blast at an average of 38, as well as taking several catches.
Blake was also named the Fitzgerald Jewellers one-day player of the year after a string of solid scores in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
England Lions spinner Riley, who plays for Bexley Cricket Club, was also in the medals after the county’s supporters voted the 23-year-old as the young player of the year.
With the club favouring England international James Tredwell as their frontline spinner, the bowler from Sidcup has struggled to break into Kent’s first-team this season.
However, the former Beths Grammar School pupil showed his credentials in the penultimate LV County Championship match of the season, taking 4/47 against Glamorgan.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Matt Coles capped an excellent return season to Canterbury by picking up the player of the year award.
The 25-year-old, who claimed 100 scalps across the summer, said: “I hope my performances have repaid the faith the coaches and management have shown in bringing me back.
“I’m a Kent man through and through and it has made a difference playing cricket with the lads I grew up and a smile on my face.”
Captain Sam Northeast was named batsman of the year for scoring 2,007 runs in all formats and Tammy Beaumont’s scoring prowess was recognised with the women’s player of the year award.
The 24-year-old from Dover was also named as batswoman of 2015, while spinner Megan Belt was the bowler of the year and Lauren Griffiths the fielder.
