Scott Dann admitted he may have upset a few family members when he scored his first goal for Crystal Palace against Everton at Goodison Park.
The 27-year-old was on target for the first time since joining the Eagles in January in a 3-2 win which all but secured Palace’s Premier League status for another season.
And the Liverpool-born defender revealed there were Toffee sympathising relatives watching on from the stands on Wednesday.
Dann said: “I had a lot of family and friends here and a lot of them are Blues as well, so they won’t be particularly happy.”
“It is always nice to score.
“I probably should score a few more but I was just grateful to score and get the win we wanted.
“It was a great performance from start to finish and we deserved it in the end.”
Dann joined Jason Puncheon and Cameron Jerome on the score sheet as Palace notched up their fourth straight victory.
Having been bottom of the league not long ago, the Eagles are now flying high in 11th place, 10 points clear of the drop zone with four games to play.
Dann paid tribute to the job that Tony Pulis has done since taking over from Ian Holloway, and threw his gaffer’s hat in the ring for the manager of the season award.
The 27-year-old said: “It’s been remarkable what he has done.
“For me it’s a no-brainer but there are other managers out there like Brendan Rodgers and Roberto Martinez who have done a great job.
“But anyone who rules out what Tony has done with Crystal Palace is silly.
“He doesn’t get enough credit for what he brings to the table.
“Everyone said Palace were down and out but he has come in and gone on to win nearly half his games. The job he has done you can’t put into words.”
Dann also thinks Palace are safe from relegation danger after their four-game winning streak.
“I don’t think we are going to be caught,” he said.
“We have gone a long way to being safe but until we are mathematically safe, you can never say never.
“We have won four on the bounce now and beaten the likes of Chelsea and Everton.
“It is a massive boost and breeds confidence, but there are still a lot of points to play for.”
