A 39-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with the murder of a woman who died following a house fire in New Cross.
Robert Ian Angus, of Fern Court, New Cross, will appear before Greenwich Magistrates' tomorrow, charged with the murder of Diane Carrington.
Unemployed Angus is also charged with the attempted murder of a teenage girl, aggravated arson with intent to endanger life, aggravated arson being reckless as to whether life would be endangered, threats to kill and actual bodily harm (ABH).
Ms Carrington was rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus from a maisonette in Fern Court, New Cross, at 5.30am on October 4.
The 47-year-old was taken to hospital suffering from burns and smoke inhalation but was pronounced dead at 7.10am.
Firefighters also rescued a teenager from a first floor window.
She was taken to hospital suffering from burns and smoke inhalation and is in intensive care in a specialist burns unit.
Her condition is described as critical but stable.
