FIREFIGHTERS are still at the scene of a gas leak at a workshop.

Two crews were called to Mayow Road, Sydenham, to a single-storey car workshop and showroom at 12.44pm today.

They had received reports of a tanker, said to be carrying liquid petroleum gas, leaking.

The workshop has been evacuated as firefighters work at the scene.

They are ventilating the area after an LPG motor vehicle's 70-litre fuel tank leaked.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: "They are trying to disperse the gas as quickly as they can.

"Whenever you're dealing with a gas leak there's the possibility of a fire risk."
