A SECONDARY school is celebrating the sweet smell of success following its latest Ofsted inspection.
Catford Business Enterprise College, Bellingham Road, received a "good"
rating from inspectors last month, recognising its "significant" improvement since its last inspection six years ago.
The school, formerly known as Catford Girls' School, has doubled the number of pupils gaining five A*-C GCSE grades from 21 per cent to 42 per cent since 2001.
It was also commended for pupils' good standards of behaviour and for its friendly family atmosphere.
Headteacher Sue O'Neill put the improvements down to hard work and a better system for monitoring pupil's progress.
She said: "We have got much better management of data so we can see whether our students are on-track and if they are not we can arrange extra help for them."
The school has also stopped study leave since 2003 for students sitting GCSEs and instead offers revision classes.
It will take male students for the first time in September.
