A YOUTH is being treated in hospital after being shot outside a takeaway in Brockley this afternoon (April 9).
Emergency services were called to the incident which happened in Brockley Cross at around 2.50pm outside the Tickle Me Caribbean and bagel shop.
It is believed the victim was shot in the arm but his injuries are not described as serious.
One resident, who did not want to be named, said: “I just heard what sounded like fireworks or crackers.
“When I came out I saw about a half dozen black kids chasing one another.
“Some of them ran up to a blue car but by the time they got to that, there was a police van in front of it.”
The man said some of the group started running up the road, still being chased by others.
He said: “One boy looked like he had blood coming from him.”
The witness said police had arrested some of the youths near the scene.
Shopworker Latoya Holt said: “I saw some young boys, I thought they were just playing around. Then a gunshot was fired, then the police came.
“It was so fast and so quick, it was unbelievable.”
Parts of the roundabout have been sealed off while the police investigate, causing traffic problems in the area.
