A MASSIVE regeneration scheme for Kidbrooke has received formal approval from the Government.
The Kidbrooke Vision, which will create 4,400 homes, a transport interchange at the railway station, two schools, a medical centre and shops, will now be designated a zone of redevelopment.
The £550 million scheme will involve the demolition of 1,906 homes on the Ferrier Estate to make way for the new homes.
And a new central park running along what is now Kidbrooke Park Road will be created.
Greenwich Council will now begin the process of re-housing Ferrier tenants living in Pinto Way, Clegg House and Sala House. Around 40 per cent of them say they may choose to return to the area.
Council Leader Councillor Chris Roberts said: "This is about creating an environment which improves people's quality of life freer of crime, more accessible to parks and open spaces, and easier to travel to and from other places."
