A SAILING centre has been showing off the work it does with youngsters.
The Ahoy Centre in Borthwick Street, Deptford, has received more than £170,000 in Lottery funding over the years, using it to help disabled and disadvantaged youngsters take to the water.
It was visited by the Lottery’s Britain Has Balls Tour which is celebrating the work community groups and charities do with their funding.
Lottery organisers got to see first-hand a training session on the Thames.
People taking part at the centre are trained in all aspects of sailing, meaning they can also teach others about the sport and go on to gain professional qualifications.
Lottery official Jessica Cain said: “We want Lottery players in Deptford to know where their money goes and the difference it is making to local people in their community."
