AN HISTORIC building is the subject of a public consultation on how to maximise its benefit to the community.
Woodlands, a Grade II-listed Georgian property in Mycenae Road, Blackheath, and Mycenae House, built as an annexe, require substantial investment for maintenance works.
The move by Greenwich Local History Library from Woodlands to the new Heritage Centre at the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, this summer has led Greenwich Council to look at the future of the buildings.
Woodlands is home to Woodlands Art Gallery, while Mycenae House is managed as a community centre by the Vanbrugh Community Association.
Residents are being asked if Woodlands should be put to educational, commercial, arts or residential use and also about a plan to grant the Vanbrugh group a long lease to improve the chance of attracting National Lottery funding to help with refurbishment.
Questionnaires have been sent to residents and community groups. Copies are available from Greenwich Council Public Services, 13th Floor, Riverside House, Woolwich High Street, London SE18 6DN. Consultations end on October 31.
