A FORMER builder who was abused as a child was found hanged at his home.
David McCarron, aged 26, of Ellenborough Road, Sidcup, was being treated for depression, an inquest heard.
His partner Lisa Turner said: “He’d been unwell for six to seven months. He wouldn’t go out or talk to people and lost his job. He got depressed and spoke of harming himself.” She said Mr McCarron had undergone a personality change which she thought might be connected to his use of Ecstasy and amphetamines and he had once threatened to cut his wrists.
She said she went shopping on April 28, leaving Mr McCarron asleep in bed. She found him hanged when she returned home.
PC Adam Todd said Mr McCarron had a cord around his neck and over a door between the kitchen and lounge.
Mr McCarron was being treated by psychiatrist Dr Olumide Kuti, who said he had been suffering long-term depression related to physical and sexual abuse during his childhood.
Coroner Dr Roy Palmer said he was not satisfied Mr McCarron intended to kill himself and recorded an open verdict.
