Bexley Councillors cannot promise to save Belvedere Splash Park, it has been announced.
A meeting of the Belvedere Community Forum was held on February 24 to discuss the future of the splash park, attended by Councillor Alex Sawyer, cabinet member for community safety and leisure.
The meeting heard it will cost between £300,000 and £500,000 to replace the water system at the park, which currently struggles to keep bacteria levels down.
Coun Sawyer said: "I have taken on board the message from residents that they want to see the splash park restored.
"I have to look at the borough as a whole.
"I can't make any promises but I have taken the message on board."
A report following investigative work on the park will be delivered to Coun Sawyer in the coming weeks - after the council's 2015/16 budget is announced on Wednesday (March 4).
An unnamed local company has stepped forward to offer a "large donation" to help revamp the park, but councillors claim that this would still leave a "funding gap"
