AN AXE-WIELDING maniac from Greenwich who cut a bus driver’s throat has been locked up for eight months.
Terry Stower, aged 53, of Sparta Street, attacked the driver after he was asked to move his truck which was blocking the bus’ path through Plumstead.
Passengers on the number 51 bus witnessed the 45-year-old driver get struck with the 18-inch axe which sliced his throat on December 10 last year.
Stower was found guilty of ABH by a jury at Woolwich Crown Court on July 4 and sentenced to eight months in prison.
Case officer DC Debbie Jones said: “Stower displayed excessive violence against an innocent man that was purely doing his job.
“I am pleased with the result of this investigation.
“I hope Stower has time to reflect on the gravity of what he did and the lasting effect his actions will have on the victim and his family.”
She added: “We will continue to investigate incidents of this nature and ensure victims are put at the centre of everything we do.”
